The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a comprehensive review of tourism and religious infrastructure projects across all 18 administrative divisions, introducing a field-based evaluation system aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and the effective utilisation of public funds.

The project, to be executed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), will be developed at an estimated cost of INR 8,300.79 crore. The proposed corridor will pass through the districts of Khurda, Puri, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur, linking key religious, cultural and commercial destinations across the state's coastal belt.

The state recorded a 17.7% increase in domestic tourist arrivals in 2025-26, rising from 28 crore to 36 crore visitors. Also, the state is expected to move up from number four to two in terms of domestic arrivals.
