The Karnataka government is planning a major upgrade of Mayura Hotels and other hospitality assets managed by the Department of Tourism by adopting private sector hospitality practices, with the aim of enhancing visitor experiences and bringing tourism infrastructure in line with global standards.

Key areas to be covered in the study include: identification of CRZ-notified beaches where tourism activities are permitted; beach-wise assessment of tourism potential; evaluation of road connectivity and supporting infrastructure; assessment of opportunities for environmentally sustainable development; study of public and private investment potential.

Goa Tourism reviewed a series of strategic initiatives as part of efforts to strengthen the state's position as a year-round tourism destination. These included a proposed partnership with TUI Group.
