Vijayawada Utsav to boost tourism and local economy: Kandula Durgesh

Tourism festivals can play a significant role in revitalising cities, generating livelihood opportunities and stimulating local businesses, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said, highlighting the potential of Vijayawada Utsav to support the local economy.

According to online reports, addressing the curtain-raiser of Vijayawada Utsav 2.0 at Dr BR Ambedkar Kala Vedika, Durgesh said the festival would serve as a platform to bring Vijayawada’s historical, spiritual and cultural legacy to a wider global audience.

He commended Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, the Society for Vibrant Vijayawada and other organisers for spearheading the initiative.

The Minister noted that the State government was encouraging festivals and cultural events across Andhra Pradesh as part of its efforts to promote tourism and the arts. Such celebrations, he said, could help safeguard traditional and endangered folk art forms, including mythological verse dramas, while offering artists greater opportunities to showcase their talent.
