Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday reportedly said the state government would hold a Cabinet meeting in the coastal region, and directed officials to resolve technical issues affecting tourism and investment projects ahead of it.

May 2026 delivered particularly encouraging results, with 9,69,090 visitors arriving in the state, marking a 4.53% increase over May 2025. Between January and May 2026, Goa recorded 44,37,018 domestic tourist arrivals and 2,02,147 foreign tourist arrivals, as shared in the statistics released by Goa Tourism Department.

The state is laying a special focus on sustainable growth, innovation and community participation, a govt. spokesperson said.

Goa is reportedly seeking to improve international air connectivity and establish direct links with emerging tourism markets such as Poland, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to attract more tourists, state Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said on Monday.

The initiative forms the first phase of a larger programme covering 27 Special Tourism Areas identified under the state's tourism policy. A review meeting involving tourism officials, architects, engineers and consultants was held in Hyderabad to assess development strategies for the selected destinations.
