Kerala Tourism gears up for Onam; launches Festival Office to coordinate statewide celebrations

The office in Thiruvananthapuram will coordinate and oversee various programmes of the Onam Tourism Week Celebrations planned across the state from August 24-30. Over 2000 artists are planned to perform in 36 venues in the state capital. 

Tourism Minister PC Vishnunadh inaugurated the Festival Office at the Tourism Directorate in Thiruvananthapuram on August 18, 2026, to coordinate the Onam Tourism Week Celebrations starting in the state capital and district centres from August 24. The Minister also unveiled this year’s Onam Festival logo on the occasion.

The Festival Office will coordinate and oversee various programmes of the Onam Tourism Week Celebrations planned across the state from August 24-30. Over 2000 artists will perform in 36 venues in the state capital. Onam programmes and cultural events will be held in all districts across the state under the District Tourism Promotion Councils (DTPCs). Trade Fair, Food Fest, light decoration in the city, and KTDC’s Payasam competition are some of the other highlights of the festival.

On the occasion, Minister for Local Self Governments KM Shaji and PC Vishnunadh flagged off Suchitwa Mission’s float displaying the Haritha Onam message (Green Onam), which will go around all districts. The Onam Tourism Week celebrations will strictly follow the green protocol.

Chief Minister VD Satheesan said, “Onam is a festival that celebrates the vibrant and colourful cultural traditions of Kerala.”

Present at the event were Kerala Tourism Secretary Biju K, Director Anjana M and KTDC MD Harshil R Meena, along with other dignitaries including Palode Ravi, Neyyattinkara Sanal, Manacaud Suresh, Maryapuram Sreekumar, Sharatchandra Prasad, MA Vaheed, KS Gopakumar, Lekshmi R and KTDC Chief Engineer Lekha K.

“All state departments are collaborating in the conduct of the Festival on a grand scale. They will also participate in the grand pageantry procession on August 30, the closing day of the festival,” said Vishnunadh.
