Uzbekistan targets 31 Tourism projects, 40,000 jobs by 2027 to accelerate infra push

In parallel, accommodation capacity is set for expansion, with plans to scale up to 8,250 accommodation facilities and 95,000 rooms, including 1,380 hotels.

According to an official statement by the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, the destination has adopted new measures to accelerate tourism infrastructure development and introduce project-based management across the sector, as part of a broader push to strengthen its tourism economy.

The initiative focuses on strengthening regional infrastructure, improving efficiency, creating jobs, and increasing domestic and international tourist flows. The move signals a structured shift towards modern management practices aimed at enhancing execution and scalability across tourism projects.

As part of its roadmap for 2026–2027, Uzbekistan has outlined key targets, including the creation of 40,000 jobs, comprising 24,000 new roles and the formalisation of 16,000 existing positions. The country also plans to implement 31 tourism projects through modern management approaches, underscoring a stronger emphasis on efficiency and delivery, as per the statement.

In parallel, accommodation capacity is set for a significant expansion, with plans to scale up to 8,250 accommodation facilities and 95,000 rooms, including 1,380 hotels. This capacity addition is expected to support the anticipated rise in both domestic and international tourist flows.

Also, starting September 1, 2026, Uzbekistan will introduce new measures to enhance service quality and create greater convenience for tourists. Key incentives include reimbursement of part of travel, accommodation, and meal costs for foreign tour operators invited to Uzbekistan, along with up to 25% compensation (capped at UZS 500 million) for international promotional activities.

Additionally, the government will support partial financing of cultural and public events organised by private entrepreneurs, further strengthening the destination’s appeal and industry participation, the Tourism Committee stated.
