Telangana Tourism is eyeing strengthening its tourism promotion through social media and experiential storytelling, according to online reports. The state is considering issuing official identification cards to digital content creators.
The development was discussed during the recently organised ‘Telangana Tourism Creator Meet’ in Hyderabad, where travel influencers, photographers, vloggers and digital creators interacted with senior state officials and shared suggestions for collaborative tourism campaigns.
Addressing the gathering, Jupally Krishna Rao, Telangana Tourism Minister, reportedly responded positively to requests from creators seeking official ID cards to help improve access while covering destinations and events across the state.
During the meeting, P Gouthami, Managing Director, Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) highlighted the need to move beyond conventional tourism content and focus more deeply on Telangana’s cultural identity, heritage and historical narratives. She reportedly noted that Hyderabad’s Persian influences and the state’s rich legacy offer significant potential to attract travellers.
Vani Prasad, Special Chief Secretary (Tourism) also said to have underlined the growing impact of digital storytelling in driving awareness and economic opportunities. Prasad also encouraged creators to use their platforms responsibly while showcasing lesser-known destinations and local history.
The event additionally marked the launch of a new Instagram handle dedicated to promoting Telangana’s tourism landscape, culture, events and travel experiences. Reports stated that while the existing TGTDC account mainly focuses on corporation properties, the newly launched platform aims to present a broader tourism narrative for the state.
