The Department of Tourism, Government of Telangana, has stepped up efforts to engage young people in tourism awareness and heritage conservation through the Yuva Tourism Clubs and Telangana Darshini programmes.
According to online reports, to accelerate the implementation of both initiatives, the department organised an orientation meeting in Hyderabad, bringing together representatives from education departments, universities, colleges, educational institutions and other stakeholders involved in youth engagement and tourism promotion.
The meeting focused on the implementation strategy and operational framework of the two programmes, with discussions covering institutional coordination, student participation, awareness-building activities and the effective rollout of Telangana Darshini across the State.
The Yuva Tourism Clubs initiative is said to be designed to familiarise students with Telangana’s tourism, cultural, heritage and ecological assets while encouraging responsible tourism practices. Through the programme, students will be encouraged to participate in heritage awareness campaigns, environmental conservation activities and initiatives that promote local culture and traditions.
Complementing this effort, the Telangana Darshini programme seeks to provide students with educational exposure visits to key tourism destinations across the State. The initiative will facilitate visits to heritage monuments, cultural centres and eco-tourism attractions, enabling students to gain first-hand knowledge of Telangana’s tourism offerings.
According to officials, the State currently accounts for nearly 5,000 out of approx. 9,000 registrations across the country, making Telangana the leading contributor nationwide.
The Yuva Tourism Clubs and Telangana Darshini programmes are expected to further strengthen awareness of the State’s tourism assets among the younger generation.
