SITA launches ‘Border Flow Lane’ to drive operational efficiency at borders

SITA has unveiled Border Flow Lane, a new border processing solution designed to shift airport immigration from a traditional, reactive ‘stop-and-check’ model to a proactive, data-driven experience. The solution aims to resolve one of the aviation industry’s most pressing challenges, managing fluctuating traveller demand without the need for extensive and expensive infrastructure expansion.

By leveraging high-quality passenger data to perform pre-clearance verification before the traveller even arrives, SITA’s new solution allows for border clearance speeds up to eight times faster than standard eGates. The technology enables a ‘flow-through’ operational model where physical stops at kiosks or checkpoints become the exception rather than the standard procedure.

Key benefits for airports and border agencies include rather than building new halls or checkpoints to accommodate growth, airports can increase throughput within existing footprints; With more than 75% of travellers cleared before departure, border officers can reallocate their focus to high-risk cases that require closer inspection, enhancing security without compromising throughput; The solution is designed to align with government-led identity verification, ensuring that efficiency gains do not come at the expense of security, privacy, or regulatory compliance.
