Pickyourtrail reports 40% rise in long weekend travel; creates a dedicated hub

Pickyourtrail has launched a dedicated home for long weekends, a space refreshes with new destinations and getaway options as each long weekend approaches

According to Pickyourtrail, Indian travellers are increasingly moving towards shorter, more spontaneous international getaways, with 3-4 day trips, long weekends and impulsive departures becoming part of a new travel rhythm. Short-haul destinations are said to be seeing growing traction too, with Indian travellers increasingly opting for 3-4 night stays and repeat visits to destinations like the Maldives.

This shift is showing up in Pickyourtrail's own numbers too. Long weekend bookings have grown 40% year-on-year, repeat international travellers have nearly doubled, and over half of travellers are now opting for customised itineraries over fixed packages. The overseas long weekend, it seems, is fast becoming a habit, not a splurge, as travellers get increasingly strategic about squeezing the most out of the least number of leave days.

Pickyourtrail has launched a dedicated home for long weekends. The space refreshes with new destinations and getaway options as each long weekend approaches, so travellers can have a shortlist ready the moment a holiday shows up on the calendar.

The Long Weekend space features curated getaway options across popular international short-haul destinations like Bali, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, all packaged for the 4-5 day window a long weekend actually offers, with destinations such as Bali, Thailand and Singapore also launching soon.

The long weekends trends reportedly are Maldives, Bali, Thailand, Singapore and Sri Lanka being the favourites for couples, with Bali and Sri Lanka topping the customisation charts. Most long weekend trips said to run 3-5 nights, but a fair share of travellers are said to be sneaking in an extra day or two of leave to stretch it further. The average long weekender now spends INR 80,000- INR 1 lakh per trip, up from INR 70,000-INR 80,000 last year, because a good flight and a better room are worth the extra leave-day guilt.

Most travellers said to lock in plans 15-30 days out, proving the long weekend is plotted, without panicked. Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi are said to be doing the most globetrotting, with the 26-31 crowd leading the charge.
