Nepal poised to emerge as wellness tourism hub: Tourism Minister

Addressing the 59th annual general meeting of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) in Kathmandu, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, Khadk Raj Paudel, said the Nepal government has decided to observe 2027 as the year for wellness tourism and preparations are being made for the same.
“Nepal, being the land of the Buddha and the land of mountains, has the great potential to emerge as a hub for wellness and health tourism," Paudel said.
The minister said that Nepal is one of the places of origin of yoga and meditation and that people from different parts of the world, including India, have been coming to the Himalayan nation to practise meditation since ancient times. The government is committed to collaborating with the private sector for the development of the country’s tourism sector, he said.
