Malaysia Airlines expands APAC footprint with seven new tourism partnerships

Through partnerships with tourism boards and destination marketing organisations, the airline will support joint marketing and promotional initiatives to stimulate travel demand, enhance connectivity and encourage more travellers to explore the region.

Malaysia Airlines deepens its tourism partnerships across Asia-Pacific, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for connectivity and tourism growth. Through partnerships with tourism boards and destination marketing organisations across Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, the airline will support joint marketing and promotional initiatives to stimulate travel demand, enhance connectivity and encourage more travellers to explore the region. Seven (7) partnerships were formalised and reaffirmed at a travel mart.

Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “These partnerships reflect our shared commitment to inspiring travel, strengthening tourism ecosystems and creating opportunities for local communities. Together with our tourism partners, we look forward to welcoming more travellers, deepening connections and supporting the sustainable growth of tourism across the region.”

The one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) marks the airline’s first strategic partnership with the tourism authority, supporting greater travel and tourism exchange between Malaysia and Thailand. Through joint destination marketing initiatives, the collaboration aims to enhance Thailand's visibility among Malaysian travellers, while encouraging greater tourism exchange between both markets.

This partnership with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia signals a shared commitment to strengthening tourism cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia. The collaboration aims to elevate Indonesia's appeal as a preferred destination while supporting tourism growth and stronger travel connections between the two neighbouring markets.

A one-year MoU has been agreed with the Philippines Department of Tourism (PDOT) to promote the Philippines as a leisure destination for Malaysian travellers. Through joint marketing and promotional initiatives, the collaboration aims to increase destination awareness, stimulate travel demand and strengthen tourism ties between both countries.

The one-year MoU with the Tourism Taiwan Administration (TTA) will support efforts to grow tourism demand between Malaysia and Taiwan. Targeted promotional campaigns and consumer engagement initiatives will highlight Taiwan’s diverse attractions, seasonal experiences and unique cultural offerings, driving greater interest and visitation from the Malaysian market.

Building on previous successful campaigns, Malaysia Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) have renewed and expanded their partnership through a three-year MoU and a one-year strategic agreement. The expanded programme will combine joint marketing, destination promotion and loyalty programme engagement to support continued travel demand between Malaysia and Singapore.

A new strategic partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will promote South Korea as a preferred destination among Malaysian travellers, building on Malaysia Airlines’ newly announced service to Busan. Through targeted marketing initiatives, the collaboration will showcase South Korea's rich cultural experiences and diverse tourism offerings, encouraging more travellers to discover the country.

A one-year Partnership Marketing Agreement with Tourism Australia will promote Australia as a preferred destination for Malaysian travellers. Through joint destination marketing, consumer engagement and trade initiatives, the partnership aims to inspire travel and strengthen demand between both markets.

Alongside these new and renewed partnerships, Malaysia Airlines’ longstanding collaborations with Tourism Malaysia and Tourism New Zealand continue through ongoing joint marketing efforts that support tourism growth and connectivity. As the national carrier, Malaysia Airlines plays a unique role in bringing the travel industry together - working with tourism boards, destinations and industry players to grow demand, open new opportunities and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a gateway to Asia-Pacific and beyond.
