Etihad Airways, Cambodia Tourism Board partner to strengthen tourism cooperation

Proposed areas of cooperation include joint marketing, destination promotion and engagement with the travel trade, highlighting the country’s cultural heritage and unique visitor experiences.

Etihad Airways has signed a joint marketing agreement with the Cambodia Tourism Board to strengthen tourism cooperation and encourage more travellers to discover Cambodia through the airline’s global network.

The MoU provides a framework for the two organisations to work together to raise awareness of Cambodia as a leisure destination. Proposed areas of cooperation include joint marketing, destination promotion and engagement with the travel trade, highlighting the country’s cultural heritage and unique visitor experiences.

Aysha Al Kaabi, VP Commercial Enablement and Engagement at Etihad Airways, said: “Since launching flights to Phnom Penh last year, we have continued to build our presence in Cambodia and make the country more accessible to our guests. Our partnership with Air Cambodia has opened up onward journeys to Siem Reap, bringing the extraordinary temples of Angkor Wat within easier reach. Working with the Cambodia Tourism Board is the next step: combining that connectivity with compelling reasons to visit, inspiring more travellers to discover Cambodia and supporting its tourism ambitions.”

Kim Minea, CEO of Cambodia Tourism Board, said: “Etihad’s flights to Phnom Penh make Cambodia easier to reach, but our ambition is to give more travellers a reason to choose Cambodia and stay longer. We are joining Etihad in a US$120,000 marketing campaign, with each partner investing US$60,000. Focusing on the UK, Germany and Italy, we want to show travellers that Cambodia offers much more than a visit to Angkor — from the vibrant streets and food scene of Phnom Penh to the beaches and islands of our southern coast, with different experiences to discover throughout the year. By combining what Cambodia has to offer with Etihad’s reach in these markets, we hope to inspire more European travellers to make Cambodia their holiday destination, explore more of the country and stay longer.”

Etihad launched direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Phnom Penh on October 3, 2025, establishing a new link between the two capital cities. The service connects Cambodia with destinations across Etihad’s global network through its award-winning home in Abu Dhabi, supporting travel for leisure and business.

The route is operated by Etihad’s A321LR between Phnom Penh and Abu Dhabi. The aircraft features two private First Suites with sliding doors and 14 Business seats, all offering fully flat beds and direct aisle access. In Economy, 144 guests enjoy spacious seats with adjustable headrests and individual 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens. With 4K entertainment, Bluetooth audio connectivity and high-speed Wi-Fi available across all cabins.

In April 2026, Etihad further strengthened its connections to Cambodia through the launch of a codeshare partnership with Air Cambodia. The partnership enables Etihad guests to book travel to Siem Reap via Phnom Penh on a single ticket, with baggage checked through to their final destination, making it easier to explore Angkor Wat and Cambodia’s living heritage in Siem Reap, while continuing their journey to discover the country’s diverse nature-coasts-islands, and vibrant cities.
