LG Saxena clears formation of Ladakh Tourism Development Society

To serve as a unified platform, bringing together government agencies, tourism stakeholders, and local communities to support tourism.

In a move aimed at strengthening the tourism sector, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday approved the formation of the Ladakh Tourism Development Society (LTDS). The autonomous body is reportedly designed to serve as a unified platform, bringing together government agencies, tourism stakeholders, and local communities to support tourism promotion and facilitate the sector’s structured, coordinated and sustainable growth.

Emphasising the importance of the initiative, Saxena noted that tourism continues to be one of Ladakh’s most important economic drivers and a vital source of income and employment for local residents.

Officials stated that the establishment of LTDS marks a major milestone in advancing tourism development in the Union Territory. “The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh has approved the constitution of the Ladakh Tourism Development Society, paving the way for enhanced tourism promotion and a more planned, integrated and sustainable approach to the sector’s development,” they said.
