Karnataka to revamp Mayura Hotels & hospitality assets through private sector expertise

The Karnataka government is planning a major upgrade of Mayura Hotels and other hospitality assets managed by the Department of Tourism by adopting private sector hospitality practices, with the aim of enhancing visitor experiences and bringing tourism infrastructure in line with global standards.
Announcing the initiative, Karnataka's Minister for Energy and Tourism, K.J. George, said the state will leverage the expertise of leading hospitality players to modernise tourism properties across key destinations.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the newly built Mayura Sunrise Restaurant at Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district, developed by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).
George noted that KSTDC and Jungle Lodges & Resorts operate properties in several of Karnataka's most popular tourist destinations, but many have significant scope for improvement. The proposed revamp will focus on professional management, upgraded facilities and internationally benchmarked service standards to unlock the full potential of these assets. He pointed to the state's partnership with the Taj Group in Chikkamagaluru as a model for future collaborations.
