Hong Kong records 3% YoY surge with 4.5 mn provisional visitor arrivals for July 2026

A total of 31.22 million visitor arrivals were recorded in the first seven months of 2026 – 11% more than for the same period in 2025. Among these, the Chinese Mainland market maintained a stable overall performance.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) announced that the provisional visitor arrivals to Hong Kong in July totalled 4.5 million, representing a 3% year-on-year increase. A series of major international MICE events and activities was held in July, including the “108th Lions International Convention” and “LEAP East”, the flagship technology exhibition for the Middle East, driving a rise in business and MICE visitors and supporting the growth from certain source markets. On the other hand, growth in visitor arrivals from the Chinese Mainland moderated slightly, mainly due to several days of inclement weather in July.

A total of 31.22 million visitor arrivals were recorded in the first seven months of 2026 – 11% more than for the same period in 2025. Among these, the Chinese Mainland market maintained a stable overall performance, and long-haul markets continued to demonstrate strong growth momentum. Whilst short-haul markets remained under pressure with visitor growth affected by factors such as rising fuel costs stemming from the situation in the Middle East, which led to adjustments in flight capacity.

Looking ahead to the second half of the year, HKTB will roll out a series of flagship mega events covering various areas such as festive celebrations, sports and gastronomy, including the “Hong Kong Cyclothon”, “Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival”, “Hong Kong Winterfest”, “Hong Kong New Year Countdown Celebrations”, as well as large-scale events for the Mid-Autumn Festival and “Halloween Month”. These will complement the rich and diverse citywide events to attract visitors.

HKTB will join hands with the industry to launch a variety of promotional activities, encouraging visitors to explore Hong Kong’s different neighbourhoods and unique travel experiences.
