Croatia records strongest July tourism performance in 2 years with 4.7 mn visitors

The latest figures show a 2.5% increase in tourist arrivals and a 1% rise in overnight stays compared with July 2025.
Croatia reported its best July tourism performance in the past two years, welcoming 4.7 million visitors and registering 29.6 million overnight stays during the month, according to the country’s eVisitor tourism monitoring system.
According to online reports, the latest figures show a 2.5% increase in tourist arrivals and a 1% rise in overnight stays compared with July 2025, reflecting continued growth in the destination’s tourism sector.
During the January–July 2026 period, Croatia received 12.4 million visitors, while total overnight stays reached 59.1 million. Both arrivals and overnight stays recorded a year-on-year increase of 1%.
The Adriatic coast said to have remained the primary tourism driver, accounting for 56.1 million overnight stays during the first seven months of the year, representing a modest increase of 0.5%. Inland destinations, including the capital Zagreb, generated more than 3 million overnight stays, rising by 1% over the same period.
Germany continued to be Croatia’s largest international source market in July, followed by Slovenia. Other significant visitor markets included Croatia’s domestic segment, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary.
For the first seven months of 2026, Germany contributed 10.3 million overnight stays, while domestic travellers generated 7.6 million. Slovenia followed with 6.7 million overnight stays, ahead of Austria (4.3 million), Poland (3.9 million), the Czech Republic (3 million), the United Kingdom (2.2 million) and Hungary (2.1 million).
Among Croatia’s tourism regions, Istria recorded the highest number of overnight stays at 16.7 million, followed by Split-Dalmatia County with 11.1 million and Kvarner with 9.7 million.
