To develop iconic tourist centres, the govt. of India gave out 100% central funding under SACSI. Implementation of projects under the scheme is expected to boost local economy and creating opportunities for local artisans and community.

The Ministry of Tourism launched a National responsible tourism initiative by the name of Paryatan Mitra/Paryatan Didi. It aims to target the local service providers such as cab drivers, auto drivers, staff at railway stations, airports, bus stations, hotel staff, restaurant workers, homestay owners, tour guides, police personnel, street vendors, shop keepers, students, etc.

Rajasthan govt. has transferred 440.06 hectares of land to AAI for development of a Greenfield Airport, suitable for operation of A-321 type aircraft. The project includes construction of a Terminal Building capable of handling 1000 Peak Hour Passengers (PHP) with annual capacity of 2 million passengers.

As per the ministry data, the economic impact of tourism has been notable too, with Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) rising from INR 1,69,917 crore in 2022 to INR 2,93,033 crore in 2024. For the January-April period of 2025, FEEs have already reached INR 98,289 crore, according to provisional estimates.

The 5th edition of India Expo Shop 2025, organised by the Indian Exhibitions, Conferences and Events Services Association (IESA), opened today at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka (August 12–13), reporting to host over 100 exhibitors, over 300 decision-makers, and more than 2,000 professionals, all converging to explore innovation, sustainability and next-gen opportunities in the MICE sector.
