Slow travel specialist Byway and small group tour operator Exodus Adventure Travels has announced an expanded partnership to make flight-free adventure travel more accessible.
The company reports that as nearly two thirds (65%) of Exodus customers based in the UK say they are more interested in travelling by train than they were five years ago, while over half (54%) would replace a flight with a train journey of up to 24 hours, including sleeper services. Almost a third (29%) have already travelled by train for an overseas holiday in the past two years.
Said to be the first time that their partnership will operate as a two-way referral model. Byway will refer customers directly to Exodus for small group tours while remaining the lead provider for overland travel to Exodus adventure start points. Together, this aims to create a seamless, flight-free journey from doorstep to destination and beyond.
The strengthened collaboration is reported to reflect a shared ambition to simplify low-carbon travel without compromising on experience.
Paul Conroy, Head of Partnerships at Byway, comments: “At Byway, our goal has always been to make flight-free travel accessible for everyone. By deepening our partnership with Exodus into a fully reciprocal model, we’re making it far easier for travellers to combine small group adventures and seamless, flight-free journeys. This is about removing friction and helping slow travel truly go mainstream.”
Kasia Morgan, Head of Sustainability at Exodus Adventure Travels adds: “Our customers are increasingly interested in switching flights for train travel, and the data shows just how strong that shift has become. By working more closely with Byway, we’re able to offer a joined-up experience that supports those ambitions, making it simpler for travellers to choose rail without sacrificing the quality and expertise of a guided adventure.”
