Argentina welcomes 463,100 international tourists in April 2026

Around 764,800 Argentine residents travelled overseas, resulting in a net outflow of nearly 301,700 tourists.
Argentina recorded a negative international tourism balance in April 2026, with outbound travel by residents significantly said to be exceeding inbound tourist arrivals, according to the latest data released by the country’s National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC).
The report revealed that approximately 463,100 non-resident tourists entered Argentina during the month across air, land and sea routes, while around 764,800 Argentine residents travelled overseas, resulting in a net outflow of nearly 301,700 tourists.
Among inbound travellers, air transport accounted for the majority share at 51.8%, followed by land arrivals at 36.9%, while 11.4% entered through river and sea routes. Brazil emerged as the leading source market for inbound tourism, contributing 20.5% of arrivals, followed by Uruguay at 16.4% and European markets collectively accounting for 15.3%.
On the outbound side, over half of Argentine residents travelled internationally by air, while 40.7% used land routes and 7.8% departed via river or sea transport. Neighbouring countries remained the preferred destinations, representing more than 70% of outbound travel. Brazil led outbound preferences with a 28.3% share, followed by Chile and Paraguay.
The report further noted that total cross-border visitor movements, including tourists and same-day visitors, reached nearly 755,000 arrivals compared to over 1.2 million departures during the month, reflecting an overall negative visitor balance of around 447,200.
Meanwhile, air traffic data from Argentina’s two primary airports indicated year-on-year growth in both inbound and outbound international tourist volumes during April 2026.
