Vietnam announces new direct service between Ho Chi Minh City & Western Sydney

The airline exchanged a MoU with WSI during the State Visit of Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam to Australia. The new route will operate two round trip services per week, effective January 9, 2027.
Vietjet exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding with Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) and announced a new direct service between Ho Chi Minh City and Western Sydney, effective January 9, 2027. The MoU was signed during the State Visit of Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam to Australia. The new route aims to expand the air connectivity between the two countries while supporting tourism, trade, investment, innovation and people-to-people links.
The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Politburo Member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Vietnam Phan Van Giang, senior government officials and business leaders from both countries at the Tech Connect Forum in Sydney.
Operating two round-trip services per week, the new route will connect Ho Chi Minh City –– with Western Sydney, facilitating greater movement of people and goods and supporting expanding trade and investment between the two economies.
Flights will depart Ho Chi Minh City every Tuesday and Saturday at 9:20 p.m., arriving at WSI at 10:00 a.m. the following day. Return flights will depart WSI every Wednesday and Sunday at 12:05 p.m., arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 4:30 p.m. the same day (local times).

WSI is Australia’s first major international greenfield airport development in more than 50 years and a new 24-hour global gateway for Sydney. WSI is planned to accommodate up to 82 million passengers annually.
