UP approves INR 33.91 Cr push to position Firozabad as religious & heritage hub

The initiative centres on upgrading key spiritual and cultural sites, alongside improving on-ground infrastructure and visitor facilities across regions such as Tundla, Shikohabad, Sirsaganj, and Jasrana.

In a move aimed at strengthening its tourism footprint, the Uttar Pradesh government has cleared 24 projects worth INR 33.91 crore for Firozabad, signalling a focused push to develop the district as an emerging religious and heritage destination.

The initiative centres on upgrading key spiritual and cultural sites, alongside improving on-ground infrastructure and visitor facilities across regions such as Tundla, Shikohabad, Sirsaganj, and Jasrana.

Jaiveer Singh, Tourism and Culture Minister said the initiative is aimed at enhancing facilities for pilgrims and tourists, while preserving the region’s cultural identity. The effort is expected to support local livelihoods, while expanding the district’s appeal beyond its traditional identity as a glass manufacturing hub.

Online reports indicate that the projects will prioritise both preservation and accessibility, enhancing temples, ashrams, and heritage landmarks while maintaining their cultural essence.

With investments spread across multiple sites, the plan aims to reflect a broader strategy to deepen tourism dispersal within the state and create more structured, experience-led offerings for domestic travellers.

According to reports online, a number of prominent temples and heritage sites have been earmarked for development under the plan, including Goga Ji Kali Temple in Piprauli (INR 70 lakh), Paseene Wale Hanuman Ji Temple (INR 65 lakh), Brahmdev Shiv and Bajrangbali Temple in Shikohabad (INR 1.20 crore), Abganga Temple (INR 35 lakh), Siddhkali Mata Temple (INR 1.30 crore), and the ancient Pathwari Mata Temple in Sirsaganj (INR 1.10 crore).

The funding plan also covers several ashrams and tourism-linked sites. Allocations include INR 1 crore for Kudariya Wale Maharaj Ashram, INR 1.30 crore for Hanuman Temple development, INR 70 lakh for Ramkrishna Dham Temple, INR 70 lakh for tourism upgrades at Ambedkar Park, INR 1 crore for Ramkanth Ashram, and INR 90 lakh for the ancient Radha Krishna Temple.
