The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Korea, successfully concluded the Sri Lanka Mega Roadshow 2026 at the Signiel Hotel Busan. The roadshow reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to expanding tourism cooperation with South Korea while strengthening the longstanding cultural and Buddhist ties between the two countries.

The Busan Roadshow was held on June 10, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of Signiel Busan. As the second Roadshow within the 2026 Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Campaign in South Korea, the event was organised to extend the campaign’s reach beyond Seoul and to engage the travel trade in South Korea’s southern region through a dedicated program of destination communication and professional networking.

Held in Busan, the roadshow served as a strategic platform to promote Sri Lanka as a premier travel destination for Korean travellers. As 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea, the event also celebrated five decades of enduring friendship while fostering new opportunities for tourism, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

The event was attended by M.K. Pathmanaathan, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea; Katuwana Vijithawansha Thero, Chief Sanghanayaka of Lankaramaya Temple in Korea; Cheongsan, Abbot of Indeoksa Temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism; Sanjaya Anurudda Niroshana, Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau; Seo Minjai, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka; Kang Da-Eun, Secretary General of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Global Cities (TPO); Nam-Jin Kim, Vice Chairman of the Busan Tourism Association and tourism industry leaders, airline representatives, tourism organisations, travel trade professionals, and key stakeholders from both Sri Lanka and South Korea, reflecting the shared commitment of the two countries to strengthening tourism partnerships, cultural exchange, and bilateral cooperation.

More than 20 representatives from Sri Lanka’s travel and tourism industry participated in the roadshow, engaging in extensive Business-to-Business (B2B) networking sessions with Korean travel agencies, tour operators, airline representatives, tourism organisations, and media.

The Roadshow showcased Sri Lanka's diverse tourism offerings, including Buddhist pilgrimage, cultural heritage, Ayurveda and wellness, wildlife, nature, adventure, pristine beaches, luxury travel, and authentic community-based tourism experiences, reinforcing Sri Lanka's position as one of South Korea's most promising emerging long-haul travel destinations.

The Busan Roadshow forms part of SLTPB's ongoing market development strategy to enhance Sri Lanka's visibility in South Korea, strengthen partnerships with the Korean travel trade, and promote sustainable growth in tourist arrivals. The successful conclusion of the event marks another important milestone in advancing tourism cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea while laying a strong foundation for future collaboration.
