New Zealand Celebrates Diwali

New Zealand, the home to one of the world’s most vibrant Indian communities celebrated the festival of lights i.e. Diwali, in Auckland in early October, filled with festivities and excitement.

Diwali celebrations are usually held in various parts of New Zealand and the celebrations in Auckland this year took it to new heights. More than 60,000 people attend the Auckland Diwali festival every year, which showcases not only traditional Indian heritage, but contemporary New Zealand Indian culture as well.

This year’s celebrations saw the attendance of two stars of the Black Caps, Kyle Jamieson and Tom Blundell. The celebrations featured bright lights, energetic dance performances, incredible Indian delicacies and spectacular fireworks.
