Apart from promoting tourism destinations in the state, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), has been recognising the admirable works of experts in various fields and their contributions toward the tourism in the state.
On the World Forest Day on Friday, MTDC felicitated Prakash Thosre for his painstaking works on Maharashtra’s wildlife. A pictorial book ‘The Wild Mammals of Maharashtra’ was also released at a well-attended function by K. Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Maharashtra. Also present at the event were, Sumit Mullick, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism & Protocol ), Praveen Pardeshi, Principal Secretary Forest , Jagdish Patil, Managing Director of MTDC and other dignitaries.
Mullick said, “The book itself has been elegantly structured and mounted. Targeted at the reasonably interested wild-life enthusiast, it carries a brief description of the animal – its physical traits, habitat, food preferences, food gathering mechanisms, equation with human beings, and, most of all, its current status in the battle for survival.”
Patil, further added, “Maharashtra is rich in wildlife and MTDC pays special attention in promoting wild life tourism. The wildlife lovers across the globe will be benefited with ‘The Mammals of Maharashtra’. The write-ups are accompanied by very adequate photographs, most of them beautiful and, some are breath-taking.”
