Kolkata Hosts 5th International Convention on Buddhist Circuit

Organised by ABTO, the Association of Buddhist Tour Operators and supported by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the 5th International Convention on Buddhist Circuit (ICBC) and International Buddhist Travel Mart (IBTM) 2022 concluded in Kolkata in the presence of venerable monks, scholars, researchers, travel journalists, Buddhist tour operators and travel practitioners from 10 countries.

Held at the CII Suresh Neotia Centre of Excellence for Leadership, with the auspicious Buddhist chanting and lamp lighting, the programme was inaugurated by Dr. Soumitra Mohan, Secretary Tourism, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Sagnik Chowdhury, Regional Director (East), India Tourism, venerable monks from participating countries and distinguished delegates.

During the event, various untapped opportunities were discussed, how country-to-country diplomacy can be enhanced through Buddhist tourist exchange was also highlighted. About 25 exhibitors including governments, states, private sectors and associations participated in the IBTM show and exchanged Buddhist travel related information.
