The state plans to place greater emphasis on segments such as medical tourism, wellness tourism, ecotourism and destination-focused tourism circuits.
According to online reports, Kerala is aiming to strengthen its positioning as one of India’s leading experiential and responsible tourism destinations, with the state government outlining plans to promote sustainable and high-value tourism growth.
The vision was said to be highlighted in the policy address delivered by Governor Rajendra Arlekar in the State Assembly, where the government emphasised its focus on building a tourism model centred around meaningful and emotionally engaging travel experiences.
As per reports, the state plans to place greater emphasis on segments such as medical tourism, wellness tourism, ecotourism and destination-focused tourism circuits. The proposed strategy will also encourage responsible private sector participation through investment-friendly policies and sustainable infrastructure development initiatives.
The policy address further underlined the importance of integrating Kerala’s cultural heritage and artistic traditions into the tourism ecosystem. According to reports, the government intends to ensure that local artists and cultural performers benefit more directly from tourism-related economic opportunities rather than remaining on the margins of the sector.
