KAYAK Reveals Monsoon Travel Trends For 2023

According to new search insights by KAYAK, more Indians are searching to travel this monsoon (between  22.06.2023 – 31.08.2023) as compared to last year. This bears out in the data which shows that domestic flight searches have increased by around 32%, and international flight searches have increased by around 24% for the monsoon season. The increased travel interest is seen despite an average increase by 8% in domestic flight prices and 11% increase in international flight prices.

When it comes to the most searched domestic destinations for flights, Goa (9%), New Delhi (43%), and Srinagar (64%) took the top three spots. For those planning an overseas vacation, Bali (35%), London (11%), and Toronto (27%) emerged as the most searched destinations.

Apart from most searched locations, KAYAK also unveiled trending destinations that have witnessed the largest spike in searches as compared to last year. The most trending domestic destinations include Srinagar Bengaluru and Chennai while internationally these include Phuket, Bali, and Los Angeles.

Despite price increases, Indian travellers are planning trips to popular domestic destinations like Goa and Delhi as well as to international hotspots like London and Bali, to truly embrace the monsoon’s respite. With KAYAK’s travel search and money saving tools, travelers can create cherished memories on an affordable journey.”

Also, Indian holidaymakers are looking to hire cars and explore on their own while on vacation. For domestic destinations, there is a considerable 103% increase in searches for rental cars, despite 39% increase in prices on average since 2022. Renting cars has become more economical for international travellers this year, with a 10% decrease in prices on average since 2022, for which searches have increased by around 54%.
