Following the opening of Jewel Changi Airport (Jewel), Canopy Park attractions and new aviation-themed attraction Changi Experience Studio are now also open to visitors. Featuring a range of unique adventures in a garden setting and an immersive interactive digital space respectively, the two attractions add to the range of leisure and tourism offerings available at Jewel, promising endless fun for travellers from the world over.
Spanning 14,000 square metres at the topmost level of Jewel, the Canopy Park houses seven iconic play attractions and creative gardens designed by top designers from Britain, France, Germany, Singapore and The Netherlands. Visitors can look forward to navigating their way through the Hedge Maze and Mirror Maze, walk or bounce on the Manulife Sky Nets, slide to their hearts’ content at the sculptural playscape Discovery Slides, and walk over Canopy Bridge that suspends 23 metres above ground.
Integrated with the attractions are also interactive garden spaces that encourage play and imagination. The little ones can expect a whimsical experience playing amongst “clouds” at the Foggy Bowls or snap photos with animal topiaries such as elephants, peacocks, crocodiles, and chameleons at the Topiary Walk. Visitors can also immerse in a sea of beautiful seasonal floral collections at the Petal Garden.
Hung Jean, Chief Executive Officer, Jewel Changi Airport Devt., said, “Changi Airport holds a special place in the hearts of many, especially Singaporeans, and we want to extend this special bond for everyone who visits Jewel. The attractions and gardens on Canopy Park are designed for visitors to relax or have a fun time with their families and friends, whether they reside in Singapore or are international travellers visiting Jewel. When Canopy Park was conceptualised, we envisaged a green natural environment with play and leisure activities for people of all ages. Importantly, we wanted to create a space where activities that are traditionally conducted outdoors, are brought to an indoor environment so that they can be enjoyed under all weather conditions.”
Travellers can also learn about interesting stories of Changi Airport and how an airport works at the Changi Experience Studio (CES) located at Level 4 of Jewel. Leveraging state-of-the-art digital technology that premiers for the first time across Singapore and Asia, the studio engages its audience with a collection of over 20 different touchpoints and 10 zones of fun and discovery spread over 3,000 square metres. The various touchpoints aim to deliver a diverse mix of unique experiences under one roof through interactive games, projection storytelling, immersive shows and gallery exhibits.
Exploration of the studio is done primarily with the Travel Guide – a personal interactive device that accompanies every visitor on his or her journey through the studio. The versatile Travel Guide enables active interaction and spontaneous engagement between the visitor and the exhibits in different ways.
One of the key highlights of the studio is The Garden of Harmony. In this enchanted garden, each visitor plays a different musical instrument using his or her individual Travel Guide, coming together with other visitors to perform a symphony – which plays out in the form of a audio and visual spectacle.
Jayson Goh, Managing Director for Airport Operations Management, Changi Airport Group said, “The Changi Experience Studio was conceived and designed to be a space that tells interesting stories of Changi Airport in a way that brings wonder and delight to visitors. We want the studio journey to be one of fun and discovery – where visitors actively participate in a playful journey full of surprises that allows them to understand the story and spirit of Changi in an experiential manner. Beyond the entertainment, visitors across all age groups can learn about the past and present of Singapore’s air hub, the inner workings of the airport, and experience what makes Changi tick. Importantly, through the various touchpoints that showcase different airport functions, the Changi Experience Studio is also a living tribute to our 50,000-strong airport community. We aspire for the studio to be a showcase of experience innovation and looking ahead, the interactive exhibits will not remain static. As an innovation space, it will continue to evolve while more new stories on Changi are written.”
