ITA Airways to launch direct Rome Fiumicino–Caracas service from March 2027

The new route strengthens ties between Italy and Venezuela and supports Italy’s national interests, Italian businesses and the Italian community in Venezuela

ITA Airways announces the launch of a new direct service between Rome Fiumicino and Caracas, starting on March 30, 2027. The route will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, using an Airbus A330-900.

As per the airline, the launch of the new flight is the result of a process developed in close cooperation with the relevant authorities and with the support of the diplomatic network, including the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Italy. This institutional dialogue helped create the conditions required to re-establish a direct and strategic air link between the two countries, as set out in the Memorandum of Understanding signed this morning by ITA Airways Chief Executive Officer Joerg Eberhart and the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Italy, Maria Elena Uzzo Giannattasio.

“Rome and Caracas are once again connected by a direct flight: a service that goes beyond its commercial dimension, bringing people, families and businesses closer together and renewing the historic bond between Italy and Venezuela. I would like to thank the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Italy for their ongoing dialogue and contribution to making this project possible, together with all the authorities and diplomatic representatives involved. With this route, ITA Airways is placing its connectivity at the service of relations between the two countries and of the many Italian communities that have been part of Venezuela’s economic and social fabric for generations,” said Joerg Eberhart, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of ITA Airways.

“Today we have taken an important step towards strengthening ties between Venezuela and Italy through the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding with ITA Airways. The new air service, scheduled to begin on 30 March, represents a strategic opportunity to bring our countries closer together. It will serve as a bridge connecting our communities and supporting tourism, trade and cultural exchanges. We are proud of this important opportunity for our countries,” said María Elena Uzzo Giannattasio, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Italy.

The Rome Fiumicino–Caracas route is of significant importance to Italy’s national interests: it strengthens the country’s connectivity with a key Latin American market, fosters economic and trade relations, and supports the activities of Italian companies operating in Venezuela by offering new mobility opportunities for people, goods and business relations.

The new flight also meets the needs of the large Italian and Italian-descendant community living in Venezuela, strengthening family, cultural and social ties between the two countries. At the same time, the service will help promote tourism flows and reinforce the role of Rome Fiumicino as a leading gateway to Italy and Europe.
