ITA Airways reports 6% surge with EUR 995 mn revenue in Q3 2026

In the first nine months of 2026, revenues exceeded EUR 2.5 billion, representing a 4% increase compared with the same period in 2025. EBIT was positive at EUR 98 million, up 65% year-on-year.

ITA Airways closed the third quarter of 2026 with a positive operating result and revenue growth compared with the same period in 2025. The first nine months of the year also showed positive operating performance, despite the challenging geopolitical environment and the impact of rising jet fuel prices.

In the third quarter, the company reported revenues of EUR 995 million, up 6% compared with the corresponding period in 2025. EBIT (operating profit) was positive at EUR 94 million, in line with the previous year.

In the first nine months of 2026, revenues exceeded EUR 2.5 billion, representing a 4% increase compared with the same period in 2025. EBIT was positive at EUR 98 million, up 65% year-on-year.

These positive operating results were achieved against a backdrop of persistent geopolitical tensions and rising jet fuel costs, both of which affected the air transport sector during the period. The company was able to mitigate their impact through hedging arrangements covering more than 80% of its fuel requirements for the current year.

Net profit continues to be affected by fluctuations in the euro-US dollar exchange rate, amid a weakening of the euro. These effects are attributable to the accounting revaluation of foreign-currency-denominated receivables and payables, primarily in US dollars, at period-end exchange rates.

The impact of exchange rate fluctuations represents a non-operating component of the financial result, distinct from the performance of the company's core business, which reported positive EBIT both in the third quarter and in the first nine months of the year.

“The results for this quarter are positive, achieved despite the challenges posed by the geopolitical environment,” said Joerg Eberhart, CEO and General Manager of ITA Airways. “The positive performance over the summer gives us confidence and encourages us to continue the important work underway to strengthen ITA Airways. Our focus on cost control and the gradual development of synergies with the Lufthansa Group are central to our efforts, alongside the quality of service we provide to our customers. We look to the future with confidence, fully aware that these results provide a foundation on which to build, and that consistency and determination will be essential to achieving sustainable growth and long-term profitability.”
