Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) during the Month of September 2014 was 4.95 lakhs as compared to FTAs of 4.54 lakhs during the month of September 2013 and 4.12 lakhs in September 2012. This shows a growth of 9.2 per cent in September 2014 over September 2013. FTAs during the period January-September 2014 were 51.79 lakhs with a growth of 7.6 per cent, as compared to the FTAs of 48.14 lakhs with a growth of 5.4 per cent during January-September 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.
Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) during the month of September 2014 were Rs. 8,810 crores as compared to Rs. 7,811 crores in September 2013 and Rs. 6,652 crores in September 2012. FEE from tourism in rupee terms during January-September 2014 were Rs. 86,160 crores, as compared to the FEE of Rs. 76,369 crores during January-September 2013.
The percentage share of FTAs in India during September 2014 among the top 15 source countries was highest from Bangladesh (14.79 per cent), followed by USA (11.88 per cent), UK (8.33 per cent), Sri Lanka (4.77 per cent), Malaysia (4.18 per cent), Japan (3.69 per cent), Australia (3.54 per cent), Germany (3.10 per cent), China (2.96 per cent), France (2.57 per cent), Canada (2.57 per cent), Nepal (2.49 per cent), Singapore (2.18 per cent), Pakistan (2.14 per cent) and Afghanistan (1.56 per cent).
