Travellers will still be required to apply for the e-Tourist visa through India’s official online visa portal, with the waiver applying specifically to the visa fee.
India has extended its visa-fee waiver for Thai travellers, offering Thai nationals 30-day e-Tourist visas with double-entry facility at no cost. Announced by the Embassy of India in Bangkok on September 11 in an official press release, the arrangement will remain in place until December 31, 2027, or until further orders.
The embassy release said, “The Government of India will grant a 30-day e-Tourist visa with double entry on gratis basis to Thai nationals. This arrangement will remain in force till 31 December 2027 or till further orders.”
Travellers will still be required to apply for the e-Tourist visa through India’s official online visa portal, with the waiver applying specifically to the visa fee.
Around 130,000 Thai tourists visited India in 2025, while Thailand accounted for 140,489 foreign tourist arrivals to India in 2024, making it an important Southeast Asian source market. India is also connected with Thailand by flights to more than 15 Indian cities, as per officially cited figures.
The fee waiver is further expected to encourage greater travel from Thailand to India, making visits more affordable while further strengthening tourism ties and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
