Goa eyes direct air links with emerging markets like Poland & Uzbekistan

The move forms part of a broader strategy to diversify Goa's inbound tourism base and tap into newer international markets.

Goa is stepping up efforts to strengthen its international tourism footprint by pursuing direct air connectivity with emerging source markets, including Poland, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has reportedly said.

Speaking at a tourism conclave, Khaunte highlighted the state's focus on expanding global access to Goa and revealed that discussions have been initiated with the Union Government to improve international connectivity through the state's two airports.

The move forms part of a broader strategy to diversify Goa's inbound tourism base and tap into newer international markets. The state has also earlier introduced a Performance-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for inbound international charter flights earlier this year. Under the initiative, inbound tour operators are offered financial incentives linked to their actual operational performance, encouraging greater charter traffic into the destination.

According to the minister, the initiative is aimed at leveraging Goa's strong global brand appeal to drive higher international visitor arrivals, increase tourist engagement and encourage longer stays in the state.

The government also expects the measures to generate wider economic benefits by supporting local businesses and communities that depend on tourism, while reinforcing Goa's position as one of India's leading international leisure destinations.
