While free Wi-Fi is a must for both leisure and business travellers, people on work trips seem to accord this amenity a higher priority, according to the latest global survey from leading online accommodation booking website, Hotels.com.The survey is based on the responses of over 4,700 respondents globally.
Indians have become more tech savvy with a large percentage of the population using smart phones. Deprived of free public Wi-Fi hotspots as compared to other countries, Indian business travellers appear to be more reliant on the free hotel Wi-Fi as it stood first on their priority list with (33%), while for leisure traveller’s free breakfast and free Wi-Fi both top the amenities list (33%).
(25%) Indian travellers ranked fitness centers as the number one non tech amenity which should be standardized at all hotels. Whereas a staggering (57%) travellers are willing topay more to avail of this facility.
Pilfering items from hotels is no doubt a global travel custom. India stood 20th in global ranking with(57%) of Indians bragging about not taking anything from hotel rooms while (29%) of Indians have admitted to pocketing stationary. Meanwhile, Argentina (27%), Singapore (29%) and Spain (30%)lead the sticky fingers list. In contrast, (69%) of Colombians and (67%) of Norwegians indicated they have never stolen from a hotel.
