Egypt reimagines Giza as an integrated heritage & MICE destination

Supporting investments include new visitor buildings, upgraded information systems, VIP amenities, mobility solutions and charging infrastructure, all aimed at creating a modern and sustainable visitor experience.

Egypt is reshaping the visitor experience at the Giza Plateau through an integrated tourism development strategy that combines heritage conservation with hospitality, mobility and MICE infrastructure. The initiative aims to connect the iconic pyramids with the Grand Egyptian Museum while creating a seamless destination experience for leisure and business travellers alike.

At the heart of the redevelopment is a comprehensive visitor ecosystem featuring a 1.27-kilometre walkway, electric mobility services, upgraded visitor amenities, premium hospitality offerings and dedicated event infrastructure. The project is designed to encourage longer visitor stays and enhance overall engagement with the destination.

The new model establishes two distinct but complementary tourism ecosystems within the Giza heritage district. Archaeological admission, ticketing and access to the pyramids under Egypt’s tourism and antiquities authorities.

Alongside this, a privately operated tourism ecosystem will deliver experience-led services, including restaurants, lounges, visitor centres, mobility solutions and curated events, creating additional value beyond the traditional sightseeing experience.

Rather than relying on admission fees to archaeological sites, the commercial model is expected to generate revenue through venue rentals, sponsorships, premium visitor services, dining experiences and events. This approach enables authorities to preserve ownership and management of the heritage site while allowing private operators to expand the destination's tourism offerings.

The redevelopment is also expected to strengthen Giza's position as a venue for MICE. Enhanced infrastructure and hospitality facilities are intended to support corporate events, premium travel programmes, and curated visitor experiences, without disrupting government-controlled access to the heritage site.
