CM Omar Abdullah reviews Gulmarg projects, stresses timely infrastructure upgrade

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a series of high-level engagements in Gulmarg focused on strengthening tourism infrastructure and showcasing the Union Territory’s development priorities during the visit of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance to Jammu and Kashmir.
According to online reports, as part of the Committee’s ongoing study tour from May 4 to 7, the Chief Minister hosted a dinner for members of the panel in Gulmarg, providing a platform for informal discussions on the region’s economic prospects, tourism growth and developmental initiatives. Welcoming the delegation, Abdullah expressed hope that the visit would give the members deeper insight into Jammu and Kashmir’s evolving priorities and expanding tourism potential.
Senior officials present during the interaction included Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister; Pirzada Farooq Ahmed Shah, MLA Gulmarg; Tanvir Sadiq, MLA Zadibal; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce; SF Hamid, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla; and Sultan Malik, Director General Budget Mohammad; among others.
The Chief Minister also chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation at the Convention Centre in Gulmarg to review ongoing and upcoming tourism infrastructure projects. During the meeting, the Managing Director, JK Cable Car Corporation presented a detailed overview of key initiatives and operational plans.

Abdullah stressed the need for timely completion of projects, integration of advanced technology and strict adherence to safety measures in view of the rising tourist influx into the region. He highlighted that robust tourism infrastructure remains crucial for sustaining visitor growth and supporting the local economy.
