Cathay Pacific Targets Reinstating Pre-Covid Capacity In 2024

As global air traffic pursues the trail of recovery to pre-Covid levels, airline groups from Asia and Europe strive to compensate for the depletion by adding newer frequencies, routes, and facilities. With the same accord, in 2024, Cathay Pacific Airways to move towards achieving pre-Covid capacity by providing diversity in food, technology, and experience on Indian routes.

Cathay Pacific operates flights to and from key cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. These routes play a significant role in connecting India to our extensive global network. “We have reached 50% of pre-pandemic passenger flight capacity, covering over 70 destinations. With encouraging load factors in 2023, we are confident the demand for air travel will only grow. We are actively adding more flights to meet customer demand and remain committed to rebuilding the Hong Kong aviation hub,” Anand Yedery, Regional Head of Customer Travel and Lifestyle – South Asia Middle East & Africa, Cathay Pacific Airways, said.

The Hong Kong headquartered airline has seen growth in the first quarter and similar results are expected in the second quarter. “The load factor on flights from India is over 90%. Demand for premium class seats has also been positive, driven by both corporate and leisure travel. There is also strong demand for Japan and other Asian routes like Indonesia and the Philippines,” Yedery informed.

Cathay Pacific has introduced new offers and promotional campaigns to fuel more traction from India market. “At Cathay Pacific, we always strive to provide our customers with a premium travel experience to the destination of their choice. We recently collaborated with Hong Kong International Airport to give out over 4200 tickets to Hong Kong; it’s been a golden opportunity for our customers to experience the destination and its vibrant culture. We have special offers for our non-winner too. When Flying with Cathay Pacific, our customers can avail of multiple benefits from our partners in Hong Kong. We have special offers from Hong Kong Airport Express, Sky100 and Nong Ping Visit to name a few. We constantly run engaging promotions to offer value to our customers when they book on the Cathay Pacific website – bonus miles, bank offers and more.,” he revealed.

In the whole of Asia Pacific, Cathay Pacific hosts the largest onboard entertainment library, including HBO Max. Our customers can also enjoy 4K movies and TV shows with Bluetooth headphone pairing on their onward flights on our latest A321neo aircraft. “We offer versatility and thoughtful presentation when it comes to onboard meals and beverages. For instance, Business flyers can pre-select their inflight meals up to 24 hours in advance. Our partnership with Michelin-starred Duddell’s exemplifies our commitment to providing unique culinary experiences,” Yedery said.

Cathay Pacific Airways reintroduced its inflight magazine with sustainability fully in mind. Cathay is printed with eco-friendly vegetable oil ink on environmentally responsible and ethically produced paper certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). All used magazine copies will be recycled to ensure they have a life beyond our planes. For Cathay, all India routes is witnessing a healthy load factor and a positive outlook.

“In fact, we see demand from our offline ports and neighboring countries through our interline partners. The inclination to travel is only increasing amongst Indian customers, who are now willing to consider comfortable and premium travel options. In 2024, we’ll be moving towards reinstating our pre-covid capacity and continuously enhancing our service and product offering so that our customers can choose premium travel experiences and fly comfortably,” he added.
