Alaska Airlines is adding Athens and Paris to its growing global network. When service to Paris launches next spring, May 2027, the airline will become the first oneworld airline to provide nonstop service between the West Coast and Paris, one of the region’s most in-demand transatlantic markets.
The hometown airline is teaming up with Seattle’s star quarterback, Sam Darnold, for a multi-season long campaign that celebrates new turf and Seattle hometown pride. With the new additions launch next spring, the airline will serve seven intercontinental destinations.
“We fly where our guests aspire to go, and Athens and Paris have been high on that list for years. As we build to more than 12 international long-haul routes from Seattle in the coming years, we’re giving travellers more ways to connect to the world and more opportunities to use Atmos Rewards. This global growth is possible because of the remarkable people across our airline who take care of our guests and deliver safe and reliable operations,” said Ben Minicucci, CEO, Alaska Airlines.
Alaska’s new service to Athens, flight AS196, pays homage to Greece’s capital as the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games in 1896. New service to Paris, flight AS136, is a nod to the city’s renowned cultural scene, home to 136 museums. With convenient departure and arrival times, both flights make it easier for guests to explore these popular European destinations. The airline’s growing global network also enables same-day connections between Honolulu and Paris through Seattle, making international travel to and from Hawaiʻi, the airline’s second largest hub, more convenient.
The seasonal service will begin May 12, 2027, operate three times a week and become the longest route Alaska has ever flown. When the new route launches, it will also become the West Coast’s only nonstop Athens flight, making it easier than ever for travellers across the region to access Greece and beyond.
George Kallimasias, Managing Director and CEOAthens International Airport, said “This brand-new destination in our network, the first-ever nonstop service to Athens from the Pacific Northwest, will further strengthen Athens’ dynamically growing connectivity with the United States and open a new bridge for tourism, business, investment and trade between Greece and the U.S. West Coast. We warmly welcome our newest airline partner, Alaska Airlines, to the Athens airport family and wish the airline every success with this new service!”
Paris, one of the most searched destinations on alaskaair.com, will become even more accessible for guests in the Pacific Northwest when service begins on May 25, 2027. The new route will provide guests with convenient nonstop access to Paris five times per week through the fall.
