Agoda, KakaoBank partner to offer travel booking experience on digital banking app

78% of South Korean consumers prefer digital interactions over traditional banking. Through this integration, KakaoBank users can browse and book from Agoda’s accommodation inventory.

Digital travel platform Agoda joins forces with South Korea’s digital banks, KakaoBank, to bring Agoda’s hotel booking experience into the KakaoBank app. The strategic partnership aligns with the growing convergence of travel and financial services in markets such as South Korea, bringing travel planning closer to where customers already manage daily needs.

Through this integration, KakaoBank users can browse and book from Agoda’s global accommodation inventory. Agoda-led offers and KakaoBank user benefits support this feature, extending the reach for Agoda’s accommodation partners by surfacing their properties within a familiar, everyday platform used by travellers in one of Asia’s most digitally advanced markets.

Damien Pfirsch, Chief Commercial Officer at Agoda, said, “Digital banking is becoming increasingly embedded in customers’ daily routines with reports showing that 78% of South Korean consumers prefer digital interactions over traditional banking. Partnerships like this create more convenient ways for people to discover and plan travel, while enabling our accommodation partners to reach customers through a platform they already use daily.”

The in-app experience features a leaderboard view of popular destinations, enabling users to explore travel trends and browse relevant accommodation options. With research showing interest in domestic travel continues to rise, browsing and trip planning are becoming more frequent and more embedded in everyday routines. Agoda’s 2026 Travel Outlook report found that nearly half of South Korean travelers (49%) plan to travel more domestically than internationally, up from 10% last year. The integration aims to meet this shift by making travel discovery and booking more seamless within a platform customers already use regularly.
