Uzbekistan Airways accelerates efforts to capture bigger share of India market

Links Goa & Mumbai to Tashkent, launches three-city roadshow in India.

Uzbekistan is steadily paving its way to becoming a preferred destination for Indian travelers, due to its rich cultural heritage, stunning Islamic architecture, and deep historical ties with India. Despite offering unique experiences like the ancient Silk Road cities of Samarkand and Bukhara, it remains relatively underexplored. Uzbekistan Airways JSC, in collaboration with its India representative, ARYA ENTERPRISES – Sales & BSP Consolidator for India, is actively working to strengthen India-Uzbekistan connection and attract more Indian travelers to discover this hidden gem.

Anish Arya, Aero World Travels & ARYA ENTERPRISES

T3 connects with Anish Arya, Aero World Travels & ARYA ENTERPRISES, the official representative of Uzbekistan Airways JSC in India, to gain insights into the growth and potential of the India-Uzbekistan route. Arya mentioned, “Uzbekistan Airways JSC revenues have surged over the past years & essentially New Delhi stands best owing to the daily flights & large equipment aircrafts deployed here.”

In addition to daily flights from New Delhi, Uzbekistan Airways JSC expanded its operations to Mumbai in April 2024 and further to the newly launched GOX (Manohar International Airport) in October 2024.

Expressing further plans, he added, “We do plan on increasing operations from Mumbai, and I’d like to take this opportunity to declare that, effective April 2025, we would be upgrading to thrice a week from BOM (currently twice a week frequency). Sales are already underway as we speak on all OTAs (MakeMyTrip India Pvt Ltd, Yatra Online, Cleartrip Online Limited, Riya Online, Akbar Travels of India, Ixigo.com, etc.).”

“We’re keen on spreading our footprint even wider across the country, participating in many exhibitions like SATTE 2025 to begin with, and further on many more. We believe it will help us achieve further growth in business for JSC Uzbekistan Airways’ India station,” shared Arya.

Sharing more about 2025 plans, Shukhrat Yadgarov, Deputy Chairman for Commerce & Tourism, Uzbekistan Airways mentioned that the plan is to expand network to all over the world, especially European, US market and Indian market. “The kind of growth we are looking at from the Indian market is at least 50%. In the near future, after the arrival of new aircraft in 2–3 years, we would like to increase our frequency to daily, up to two flights per day, totaling 40 per week. We know the true potential of the Indian market between Uzbekistan and India. There can be huge growth, and we need to seize this opportunity to meet the demand.”

Presence at TITF 2024

Additionally, Uzbekistan Airways also showcased its presence at the 2024 Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TITF) held at CAEx, Uzbekistan, in November 2024 as the general partner. Rohan A. Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Information & Technology, Electronics & Communications, and Printing and Stationery, Govt. of Goa, met with Shukhrat Yadgarov, to discuss enhancing air connectivity and increasing flight frequency between Tashkent and Goa. Additionally, Khaunte engaged in discussions with Umid Shadiev, exploring collaborative initiatives to promote tourism, foster cultural exchange, and drive mutual economic growth for both regions.

Khaunte remarked, “The introduction of scheduled flights directly connecting Goa and Uzbekistan, along with improved collaborations and connectivity, is expected to boost tourist inflow. We are now targeting new markets, with Uzbekistan being a key focus. As we promote Goa, we are also looking at initiatives like ‘Chalo India’ and ‘Dekho Apna Desh’, where we need to build up the story of not only Goa but how we can pull things together and ensure that the tourists figures that are coming in, specially from Uzbekistan.”

Tapping the potential of India market

Uzbekistan Airways JSC, in partnership with ARYA ENTERPRISES, launched a three-city roadshow in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Cochin in December 2024 to boost its visibility in the India market and foster new connections with the travel trade. Supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in India and Aero Sail Services Pvt Ltd (Cargo Agent for Uzbekistan Airways in India), the events also featured participation from Uzbekistan-based DMCs, Asia Luxe Travel, and Dip Tourism Services.

The event fostered engaging discussions, with travel agents sharing glowing testimonials and valuable insights into Uzbekistan’s appeal as a vibrant and diverse travel destination.
This initiative underscores Uzbekistan Airways’ commitment to strengthening ties with India market and promoting Uzbekistan as a preferred destination for both leisure and business travellers.

Sharing about this initiative, Ajay Arya, MD – ARYA ENTERPRISES & AERO WORLD TRAVELS, states, “The roadshows witnessed a lot of interaction amongst general public who came up to the stage and shared nonchalantly their experiences which were all positive and speaks volumes about the efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism of Uzbekistan and the support from the Embassy of Republic of Uzbekistan to India. Also like to share based on the outstanding response for our Mumbai flight launched in 2024, we’re starting a 3rd frequency ex Mumbai starting Summer Schedule 2025.”

Farruh Kayumov, CEO of Asialuxe Travel, in conversation with T3, mentioned, “We really look forward to seeing Indian tourists in Uzbekistan and we are interested a lot to promote Uzbekistan in India market. Uzbekistan is very rapidly developing at the moment. The tourism industry is just booming up in Uzbekistan. Guides, new five-star hotels, high-speed bullet trains and everything is here. Uzbekistan is hungry for the tourism and is open for the whole world. It’s like a little hidden gem, basically.”
