Uttar Pradesh is set to witness a significant boost in tourism with the imminent completion of key projects aimed at enhancing visitor experiences. The under-construction international Roma Museum in Kannauj is on track for completion by the end of April this year.

Additionally, work on the Children’s Museum is being expedited. The updates on the project’s completion were discussed during a review meeting held at the Directorate of Tourism in Lucknow, on April 4, 2025.

The meeting was jointly chaired by Jaiveer Singh, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh and Aseem Arun, Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge). The minister for Tourism emphasised the importance of completing all projects by April 30, reinforcing the sector’s crucial role in Uttar Pradesh in achieving a USD 1 trillion economy.

Amid the growing interest of domestic as well as in-bound tourists, Singh issues instructions to conduct a survey to assess the availability of hotel rooms, dharmshalas, roadside eateries, marriage halls, and homestays across the state. Currently, Uttar Pradesh has only 35 rooms per 100,000 population, a number that needs significant improvement. The tourism and culture department has been tasked with finalising its annual work plan by May to further strengthen the state’s tourism infrastructure.

Interdepartmental coordination remained a key focus area during the meeting, particularly regarding the process of issuing No Objection certificates (NOC). The cabinet minister stressed the need for efficient resolution of such issues to ensure smooth project execution.

Another pioneer initiative discussed at the meeting was the scientific approach to tracking tourist footfall in the state using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The use of technology is expected to produce accurate data of tourists coming to Uttar Pradesh and plan the infrastructural needs of the future.

During the meeting, Avnish Kumar Awasthi, Advisor to the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, reinforced the government’s focus on tourism, urging officials to align their efforts with the Chief Minister’s vision for the economic growth of the state.

Principal Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Mukesh Meshram, emphasised strict adherence to DPR designs for all ongoing projects, warning that any compromise on material quality would result in strict action against responsible agencies. For spiritual tourism destinations like Varanasi, Mathura, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya witnessing an encouraging number of tourists, the Tourism Minister has instructed the completion of 156 pending projects by December 2025.

Additionally, the boundary wall of the Ramleela grounds across the state will soon have a uniform design reflecting Indian culture and faith. The meeting was attended by Special Secretary for Tourism Eesha Priya, Managing Director of Tourism Development Corporation, Sanya Chhabra, Director of Tourism Prakhar Mishra, Special Secretary for Culture Ravindra Singh, Joint Director Dinesh, Deputy Director Kalyan Singh, and other senior officials.
