Türkiye deepens ties with Mumbai travel trade

The Mumbai edition witnessed participation of over 200 from India’s travel industry, including luxury tour operators, MICE specialists, and hospitality leaders.

The Türkiye India Destination Promotion Event 2025 concluded in Mumbai, marking the final leg of the six-city tour hosted by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA). The event, held at the Golconda Ballroom, Trident BKC, brought together key tourism stakeholders from both nations, fostering new opportunities for collaboration.

After concluding engagements in Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, the Mumbai edition witnessed participation of over 200 from India’s travel industry, including luxury tour operators, MICE specialists, and hospitality leaders. The event aimed to reinforce Türkiye’s growing prominence as a preferred international destination for Indian travellers.

The event was led by Basak Onsal Demir, Counsellor for Culture and Tourism Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye and Mustafa Kemalettin Eruygur, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Mumbai. It also featured an insightful presentation from TGA representative, Zeynep Üçok Celikag, who shared Türkiye’s latest tourism developments. She spotlighted emerging travel hotspots like the picturesque Aegean coasts, the UNESCO-listed Göbeklitepe, and the historically significant Taş Tepeler region. Furthermore, Türkiye’s growing appeal in the wedding and MICE tourism segments was underscored, reinforcing the country’s versatility as a global travel destination.

Speaking at the event, Mustafa Kemalettin Eruygur, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Mumbai, stated, “Mumbai, as India’s financial and entertainment capital, is a key market for outbound travel. The city’s vibrant tourism sector and increasing demand for premium travel experiences align well with Türkiye’s diverse offerings. We have seen an incredible surge in interest from Indian travellers, and our aim is to provide them with more opportunities to explore Türkiye’s unparalleled history, nature, and modern attractions. Strengthening direct connectivity between Mumbai and Istanbul will further encourage travel between our nations, and we are dedicated to enhancing the experience of every Indian traveller visiting Türkiye.”

Turkish Airlines and IndiGo supported the initiative, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing flight options between India and Türkiye. The event featured engaging presentations, dynamic B2B networking opportunities, and an exciting lucky draw with exclusive travel packages to Türkiye.
