Tourism Australia launches 5th Great Australian Airfare Sale

To capitalise on the awareness created by the recently launched ‘UnDiscover Australia’ campaign and entice travellers to act on their inspiration to visit Australia, Tourism Australia has partnered with five full-service and low-cost airlines to launch the fifth version of its industry-first initiative, the Great Australian Airfare Sale. Featuring fares from Air Asia X, Air India, Jet Airways, Malaysia Airlines, and Qantas Airways, the sale is valid from November 19 until December 9, 2018 and offers travel validity through to December 7, 2019.

Promoted across various digital, social and print platforms, the sale is further amplified by leading online travel agencies like Cleartrip, MakeMyTrip and Yatra who are further sweetening the deal by offering attractive cashback incentives to consumers.

An un-replicated collaboration across the travel industry, the Great Australian Airfare Sale has orchestrated a win-win situation for both travellers and airlines, whilst also fuelling demand for Australia. In this latest version of the ‘Sale’, Tourism Australia has gone a step further by bringing the Australian tourism industry on board. Amazing deals and offers from over 26 leading attractions and hotels from across Australia have been shared with travel agents to further benefit consumers.

Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager, India and Gulf, Tourism Australia said, “We are immensely proud of the Great Australia Airfare Sale, bringing together the Airlines, the Australian and Indian travel industry together under one roof, to offer compelling reasons for potential travellers to visit Australia. The past four versions of the sale have generated over 70,000 bookings and we’re confident that the latest version that coincides with the India’s cricket tour of Australia will be a successful one too!”

India is currently Australia’s 8th largest and the fastest growing inbound tourism market, with over 345,500 Indian tourists visiting Australia during the year ended September 2018. Over the past four years, Tourism Australia has recorded solid double-digit growth in tourist arrivals from India, with visitation for the current year up by 19 per cent.
