Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari emphasizes the need to identify and develop new tourism locations in every district of Rajasthan to further enhance its appeal.
Rajasthan, renowned for its heritage, forts, palaces, and historic mansions, is now emerging as one of the largest hubs for destination weddings in India and abroad. Over the years, Rajasthan has consistently been recognized at both national and international levels with prestigious awards for being the best wedding destination.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari envisions Rajasthan not only as a leading tourism destination but also as a global hub for destination weddings. She believes that by developing world-class infrastructure at its iconic tourist spots, the state can attract both international and domestic tourists. She emphasizes the need to identify and develop new tourism locations in every district of Rajasthan to further enhance its appeal.
Rajasthan is said to become a favored wedding destination for Indian celebrities, industrialists, and even international stars. Recent years have witnessed high-profile weddings, including those of Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare, Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal, and Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha. Additionally, Hollywood celebrities have also chosen Rajasthan for their weddings, elevating its global status.
The state boasts over 75% of India’s heritage properties with cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Jaisalmer feature majestic forts, mansions, and palaces that serve as ideal venues for weddings. More than 120 such properties across the state regularly host destination weddings, solidifying Rajasthan’s position as a leader in this space.
Adding another feather to its cap, Rajasthan will host the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Jaipur in March 2025. This silver jubilee edition of IIFA is not only a cultural milestone but also holds immense economic importance for the state. According to Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, this event will showcase Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage and further bolster its tourism and film industries on the global stage.
Tourism Secretary Ravi Jain highlighted the department’s efforts to promote not only popular wedding destinations but also heritage sites in lesser-known districts as wedding venues. He stated that Rajasthan, with its blend of heritage and modern amenities, has become an ideal location for destination weddings. Under the leadership of Diya Kumari, the state’s tourism sector is advancing towards a harmonious integration of tradition and modernity.
Jain also mentioned the successful organization of India’s first “Wed in India” Expo in Jaipur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The event saw participation from 16 international and 50 domestic wedding planners, further cementing Rajasthan’s reputation as a wedding destination.
According to Deputy Director Dalip Singh Rathore, Rajasthan has consistently received accolades as the best wedding destination over the past five years. He added that the state’s decorated forts, palaces, and mansions create a majestic ambiance, offering a unique and royal experience for weddings.
