SKAL Club of Bombay elects new committee

SKAL Club of Bombay introduced its new Managing Committee (MC) for the term ending 2014, following their elections in October 2012, at a networking evening for members and spouses at the Sofitel Mumbai BKC. Carl Vaz has been elected as the association’s President, Burjis Mehta has been named the Secretary and Vaibhav Keria has been elected Treasurer for the same, with Iqbal Mulla standing in as Immediate Past President. Mahesh Neralkar, Pramod Dalvi, Geoff Magee, Jason Samuel, Arun Raghavan and PK Mohankumar are the MC Members.

Vaz stated that ‘Go forward’ would be the new committee’s theme for their term, and their main focus will be to increase membership in the Mumbai chapter. “We are targeting a huge membership drive to attract representatives from airlines, hotels, travel agencies and tourism promotion boards, in an attempt to bring our membership numbers up to a number the chapter used to enjoy earlier. Our plan for the term is to take SKAL Club of Bombay onto the path of revival in terms of PR activities and increased business opportunities between stakeholders,” he revealed.

Vaz further added that the strategy of the committee’s forthcoming initiatives will be to use business networking as the main tool to meet its aim. The committee has planned monthly networking events for its members, including the Christmas Dinner at the Ambassador Hotel in December 2012, a luncheon for members at the ITC Grand Central in January 2013, and the SKAL Ball in February 2013. The venue for the ball is yet to be finalised. Discussions are also underway to host a SKAL convention next year. “We hope to take the SKAL Club of Bombay international during our term. We have been discussing the possibility of an international convention, maybe in Dubai,” he concluded.
