SATTE Conferences to discuss current issues

In keeping with its annual promise of providing the industry with the best of travel and tourism and mapping the latest trends in the sector, SATTE’s all new agenda for 2013 includes The UNWTO Perspective which will feature senior representatives addressing topics such as ‘APAC Tourism 2030: Unearthing opportunities, predicting trends and overcoming challenges’; UNWTO ExpertSpeak: Domestic Tourism in Asia and the Pacific -The Road Ahead; and a UNWTO Panel Discussion engaging NTA representatives and the private sector.

The latest issue to plague the industry, the turbulence in the aviation sector, will also have its place at the conference with a discussion on ‘Aviation in India – The Way forward’. Not forgetting the most important trend in travel and tourism, the advent of technology, the SATTE 2013 Conference panel discussion ‘Technology, New Media and One Common Marketplace – The changing face of travel in India’ will focus on the impact of the industry’s move to the online space.

In addition, the SATTE 2013 Conference will address concurrent issues plaguing the industry. ‘Harnessing the untapped potential of mutually beneficial partnerships in tourism’; ‘Travel and Tourism in India – The Ministry of Tourism Perspective’; ‘International Case Study: USA Tourism – The Ministry of Tourism Perspective’; ‘Staying ahead in the game by incorporating best practices from across the globe’; ‘Ecotourism and Responsible Tourism – Incorporating inclusive measures to make tourist destinations more sustainable through experiential learning and involvement’; and ‘Establishing innovative partnership models between tour operators and hotel operators to ensure a surge in demand from domestic and international travellers’ are among the topics that will be discussed.

Apart from these, special addresses and presentations will be made by industry stalwarts and SATTE partners. Ashwini Kakkar, Executive Vice Chairman, Mercury Travels, is likely to deliver the keynote addresses on day two.
