SAA to provide special Air Transport Service for mourners

South African Airways (SAA) has put special air transport arrangements in place to ferry Nelson Mandela’s mourners to South Africa who will attend the funeral service of the world icon and former president Nelson Mandela in the Eastern Cape.

After consultation with the South African government, SAA has put measures in place to facilitate the movement of mourners from all SAA outstations (regional and international) to get to South Africa. In turn the passengers will be able to make their onward connection to the Eastern Cape where the funeral will be held. This special air transport service will cater for the mourners who have been invited to attend the funeral and it will also be available on the return leg of their travel.

This announcement neither replaces nor will it disrupt its existing and regular operations to and from all its (international) outstations. Passengers travelling on normal schedules between Johannesburg and the two Eastern Cape destinations SAA operates to, will continue to be offered the same services. In addition, the regional and international schedules remain unaffected.
