Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) during the Month of July 2014 was 5.72 lakhs as compared to FTAs of 5.06 lakhs during the month of July 2013 and 4.86 lakhs in July 2012.This reflects a growth of 12.9 per cent in July 2014 over July 2013 as compared to a growth of 4.2 per cent registered in July 2013 over July 2012. FTAs during the period January-July 2014 were 41.15 lakh with a growth of 6.2 per cent, as compared to the FTAs of 38.74 lakh with a growth of 4.4 per cent during January-July 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.
The percentage share of FTAs in India during July 2014 among the top 15 source countries was the highest from USA (16.88 per cent) followed by Bangladesh (14.69 per cent), UK (12.66 per cent), France (4.14 per cent), Sri Lanka (3.61 per cent),Malaysia (3.51 per cent), Canada (2.84 per cent), Japan (2.75 per cent), Germany (2.70 per cent), China (2.29 per cent), Australia (2.23 per cent), Nepal (2.11 per cent), Singapore (1.85 per cent), Pakistan (1.75 per cent) and Republic of Korea (1.72 per cent).
Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) during the month of July 2014 were Rs. 10,336 crores as compared to Rs. 8,620 crores in July 2013 and Rs. 8,389 crores in July 2012. The growth rate in FEEs in rupee terms in July 2014 over July 2013 was 19.9 per cent as compared to 2.8 per cent in July 2013 over July 2012. FEE from tourism in rupee terms during January-July 2014 were Rs. 67,096 crores with a growth of 11.4 per cent, as compared to the FEE of Rs. 60,207 crores with a growth of 15.5 per cent during January-July 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.
FEEs in US$ terms during the month of July 2014 were US$ 1.721 billion as compared to FEEs of US$ 1.442 billion during the month of July 2013 and US$ 1.512 billion in July 2012. The growth rate in FEEs in US$ terms in July 2014 over July 2013 was growth of 19.3 per cent as compared to the negative growth of 4.6 per cent in July 2013 over July 2012.
FEE from tourism in terms of US$ during January-July 2014 were US$ 11.055 billion with a growth of 1.9 per cent, as compared to US$ 10.850 billion with a growth of 8.9 per cent during January-July 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.
