Malaysia Airlines announces daily flights to Auckland

Auckland Airport has welcomed the announcement that, due to strong demand, Malaysia Airlines is now offering daily flights on the Kuala Lumpur to Auckland route all year round. The announcement will see the 5-star airline commence the year-round daily service on 30 March 2014, when the number of flights on the Kuala Lumpur to Auckland route will increase from six to seven per week, meaning an additional 52 flights in total each year.

Lee Poh Kait, Regional Senior Vice President Australia / New Zealand / South West Pacific, Malaysia Airlines said, “This additional frequency for Auckland is in tandem with our overall expansion plan for 2014 and beyond. We are excited to see sharp increases in load factors on all our flights plying the New Zealand and Australia routes. The services between Auckland and Malaysia have been well received and the increased frequency is in line with Malaysia Airlines’ continued efforts to position itself as a superior airline across the New Zealand market. The support we have received from our industry partners has assisted us with the expansion in New Zealand and is also thanks to the ongoing efforts of the 20,000 staff at Malaysia Airlines”, he stated.

Dzulkefli Zakaria, New Zealand Country Manager, Malaysia Airlines said, “Malaysia Airlines has worked hard to get the support from our key agents and consumers to increase outbound traffic. This is also a perfect time to add capacity, especially in line with Visit Malaysia Year 2014. I am also happy that we have managed to establish good collaboration between Tourism New Zealand, Auckland Airport and our overseas stations to help grow key inbound markets from India, Indonesia, Malaysia and elsewhere.”
